Changelog: February 2026

A quick roundup of what we've shipped recently. We've been focused on making Shard more flexible and more fun to use — here's what's new.

Autocomplete for tables

Select one or more rows in any table, hit autocomplete, and describe what you want filled in. Shard uses AI to populate your data based on context and your instruction — whether that's generating email addresses from names, filling in missing categories, or completing a dataset you've started by hand.

It works with any column type and understands the structure of your existing data, so the results actually make sense.

Notes card

You can now drop a note directly onto your canvas. It's a simple, resizable text box — useful for adding context next to a chart, jotting down a reminder, or leaving a note for yourself about what a particular query does.

Notes support customizable font size, text color, and transparency, so you can make them blend into your workspace or stand out.

Grid view

Workspaces now have a grid mode — a toggle next to the zoom controls that switches from the free-form canvas to a clean, structured layout. Cards arrange themselves into a responsive grid, making it easy to scan everything at a glance without worrying about positioning.

Canvas mode is still there for when you want full spatial control. Grid mode is for when you just want to see everything laid out neatly.

Many other fixes and improvements

Alongside the bigger features, we've shipped a long list of smaller improvements — better handling of reserved SQL keywords, more reliable query generation, smoother scrolling and drag interactions on the canvas, and various UI polish across the board.

And more is coming soon.
